Medium of exchange used in united states could be cans

Assignment:

An example of a medium of exchange that could be used in the United States could be cans. Every state has the ability to find cans to use and can be easily crushed to give it a smaller shape for a more easy way to trade between one another. Instead of receiving cash back for turning your cans into a collection center, you could keep them to pay for more canned food or other commodities. With the trading of cans it would increase the value of canned foods as a food source and medium of exchange. Obviously with the use of cans would increase the sale of canned foods because they hold more value (Being a food and medium of exchange source) would cause the value of cans to decrease has the process continued, making the amount of cans needed to purchase items become very burdensome.

Cans can easily be accounted for, same as money which would make it easier to know the total value of your assets of cans. This would increase the value of canned food as stated above because it has two valuable uses, while other items, labor, etc could be worth either the weight of cans or the amount of cans. Using the weight of cans would make it easier to change the weight of them and increase their value (Adding in different metals) which could ruin the system but using the simple style of counting each individual can would could make the transaction cost higher and hard to ship the currency.
