My values that I'd say are important to me are some of the following; Respect for myself and respect for others. Not only do I value giving respect I appreciate when it is demonstrated by others. Respect influences my leadership because regardless of differences, it's a good attribute to have allowing you to treat others with dignity, empathy and compassion which in turn will give me the ability to earn the respect of others, which is valuable when in a leadership role (Vella, 2016).

I value integrity which could be from my past in the military or for my high respects toward law enforcement. When you value integrity, I feel that you also would value authenticity, because in order for someone to have integrity they are usually very real and raw in nature. Having these values influence the way I am toward my peers and anyone under my leadership role. If I'm being honest and up front, usually people are more likely to do the same.

My purposes in life is not narrowed down to any single thing. My life purpose is to bring positive energy and inspire purpose in others. An example of this would be me demonstrating myself as a good role model for my kids. I promote positive energy and determination to show them they can do anything they set their mind to, and try to inspire them to be their best. I do this as well in my work environment, I feel people work better in a positive work environment.

I also feel my purpose in life is to grow continually through the influence of my fathers' wisdom and use my wisdom to help others that come across my path. To grow through encouraging them, while also making a difference in their lives and the lives of those around them. It's easy for people to get caught up in their own lives, but I have always valued camaraderie, which could be a reason I joined the Marines. Having that group of people around you that always looks out for one another, and through that, we are all inspired to do the best job we are capable of.

How would you describe your own values and purpose in life? In what way is your leadership influenced by these values?

I like to think that I am a good person, and I do what I can to show that I am trustworthy and upstanding. I show my team the respect that they deserve and hope that they return the favor. My goal in life is to be successful, keep my business growing, and to enjoy everything that I can. When I mention success, success to me is being healthy, happy, having a roof over my head and food on my table. Neither I nor my girlfriend are overly extravagant, we like nice things, but they don't have to be the most expensive things, the biggest house, and fanciest car.

I'm sure success has a different meaning to everyone, but that is what it means to me. I tend to be an honest person, and I like to get along with everyone, the military taught me respect, and getting older has helped with my patience. I don't expect things from people that I wouldn't do myself, I talk to people with professionalism, and I treat them the way that I would hope to be treated. I think that all of these things come through in my leadership. I do what I can to lead by example, and I expect that my crew sees that, and that lets them know the type of person that I am. I feel that a lot of the person that I am today has come with age, when I think back on myself fifteen years ago, I feel that I am a completely different person; getting older helps you put a better perspective on things in my opinion.
