Good analysis on Wiremold and some of the key benefits they have enjoyed since established a lean culture. The reduction in time to service the customers from one week to less than a day is truly shocking. It just demonstrates how much waste is inherent in many of the legacy processes within businesses that are not utilizing lean concepts. It is hard to imagine any company not wanting to reduce their time to service customers in such a dramatic fashion. You also mention the reduction in needed space in the production plant by 50%, which is really huge. The reduction or much of the raw materials through the lean implementation save the business capital and exposure to future obsolescence costs. It also saved the business production space capital, which could be substantial if they decide to expand their operation or lease out the space to another manufacturing company. I have never worked for a production or distribution company that would not find value in created that much additional space in the production plant.
