Formulates a couple of thought provoking questions for class

Assignment

I heave it up to each student to decide what they would like their presentation to focus on for the short stories: gender relations; class and racial differences; boundaries who declares and enforces them and why; cultural dissimilarities or clashes to the extent that authors relate universal human experiences, what twists, if any arc provided by the ethnic and minority perspectives; etc. Or/And you may choose to locus on the literary elements: Setting (time and space); Narrative Voice; Characters; Plot and Structure; Themes; Symbols (if any); Language.

Requirements:

Overall, I'm looking for the following qualities in a group presentation:

• 20-30 minutes long

• Informative on the history, movement, author and/or text chosen Context

• Focuses on 2-3 key elements of the story - Setting (time and space); Narrative Voice; Characters; Plot and Structure; Themes; Symbols (if any); Language

• Adds to group's understanding of text

• Provides evidence of critical thinking and creativity

• Formulates a couple of thought provoking questions for class or activity for class

• Provides class with a typed hand-out that highlight major points covered during presentations and includes discussion questions as well as References Page instead of handout, you may just print out presentation as outline. This removes all images and formats content in outline form.

Originality of approach and ability to engage class arc important elements of a presentation, but they are not substitutes for information and analysis. Technology can contribute, but it is not mandatory; if not used well, it adds nothing to the content value of the presentation.
Cautionary notes concerning PowerPoint presentations:

• Do not overwhelm slides with so much text that classmates feel they need not pay attention to the presenter.
• Do not put all your information on the slides: they should present key words or areas you will elaborate on.
• Make slides audience-friendly: check that slide and font color choice and type work/arc readable for people in back row.

Format your assignment according to the following formatting requirements:

1. The answer should be typed, double spaced, using Times New Roman font (size 12), with one-inch margins on all sides.

2. The response also includes a cover page containing the title of the assignment, the student's name, the course title, and the date. The cover page is not included in the required page length.
