Find amount of energy lost to the system due to friction

A bullet of mass m = 19.1 g traveling horizontally at speed vo = 876 m/s strikes a block of mass M = 4.94 kg sitting on a frictionless, horizontal table, and gets buried inside the block.

a) Find V, the speed of the block-and-bullet after the bullet comes to rest inside the block.

b) Find ΔE, the amount of energy lost to the system due to friction between the block and the bullet.

c) Suppose now that the block is sitting on a horizontal table, and there is friction between the block and the table. If after the bullet hits the block it now slides for a distance s = 2.1 m before coming to a stop, find μk, the coefficient of kinetic friction between the block and the table.
