Explain what happens the paradoxes of thermoreceptors

Discussion Post

• While thermoreceptors respond to non-noxious (innocuous) temperature stimuli, thermal nociceptors respond to noxious temperature stimuli. Come up with your own explanation as to why it might benefit the body to have temperature separated by not only heat/cold but also dangerous/non-dangerous. (no wrong answers here as long as you use the knowledge of the systems as learned in class)

• Both pain and temperature signaling pathways have a "paradoxical response" whereby the system does the opposite of what's expected of it. Explain what happens the paradoxes of thermoreceptors and nociceptors are including which type of nerve this occurs in and what the behavioral response is for the person when this is happening.

The response should include a reference list. Using one-inch margins, Times New Roman 12 pnt font, double-space and APA style of writing and citations.
