Explain the topic of the persuasive research paper is ‘The influence of Media on youth violence.' This paper argues that media is responsible for youth violence.
The research paper calls upon the skills of analysis and synthesis, i.e. "breaking" the larger issue into smaller "components" and incorporating opinions and evidence from sources into your own argument. You will also be using the skills of paraphrasing, summarizing and quoting sources to substantiate and support your position. Your task is to present your opinion on an issue or problem in such a way that your presentation reveals your understanding and attempts to convince others of its efficacy. You will need to engage in the process of substantive academic inquiry; to cement your abilities to perform research, synthesize, and document it. Remember, this is a persuasive research paper and the topic should lend itself to argument. The subject MUST BE controversial: this assignment requires you to take a position and defend it.

You will need to use a minimum of 8 and a maximum of 14 sources for this paper. Use these guidelines-
--Only one source may be a general reference source such as an
Encyclopedia. Dictionary definitions do not count as sources. However, they must be included on the Works Cited page even though they do not count as one of the required sources.
-Only one source may be an interview, a film or video, or other non-print source.
-Only one source from the internet, such as Google/Metacrawler etc.
-The rest of your sources should be books and academic sources such as academic journals and databases such as Lexis-Nexis and Infotrac.
