•Explain your reasons for seeking a counseling degree.

I have really struggled with this question for many years asking myself what I want to do for the remainder of my life. The thing is I have been work with mental health clients as a Recovery Assistant Supervisor which I am learning most of the things that may be presented in this class.

I talk to clients 1 on 1 supporting them in making good sound choices and hold groups on various subjects such as anger management.

My reasons for becoming a counselor now is recently my daughter was diagnosed with depression and also having problems in school and when I try talking to her and her words to me is "Mom you just don't understand and you don't listen to me when I talk to you".

As a parent we all want to help our children, however to be a parent and try to understand what that looks like for her, I felt like I could not help her. Taking these classes I feel that it will help me understand and be able to help her through this journey. I'm not sure if this makes any sense but this is my struggle and would love to learn to understand.

•Analyze how your personality characteristics might affect your approach and style in a counseling setting.
