Estimate the annual emissions of CO2 and SO2 from a 1500 MW(th) steam generation plant if the boiler operates at 1800 K and 2 atm with 15% excess air. The coal used has 75% C, 5% H, 1.5% N, 2.5% S, 6% O, 5% ash and 5% H2O. Based on the calculated volumetric flow rate of combustion products, show that the minimum required boiler size is reasonable.
