Classmate Jonathan Crump discussion response

While discussing criminal justice with a friend during a hike he told me that the majority in his class agree with one another and that a different point of view is usually ignored and brushed to the side due to it not being the norm within the criminal justice field. I believe that this can happen when applying theory to crimes and criminals. When we apply these theories and one sticks to the crime, then it makes it difficult to find different views on how the crime occurred or why the criminal would act in such a way because that might take it out of the applied theory box that it was put in.

But, at the same time I believe that applying theory to crimes and criminals can be helpful. It is the framework to understanding the who, what and why's. If we don't have a framework to look at the crime then we will be starting from scratch with every single event and every single criminal, instead of having an understanding from previous incidents on why this certain crime takes place more than others or why a certain individual would commit such a crime.
