Discussion Post: God, Humanity & Human Dignity
The value of a human person to me is huge. The fact that God chose you to be in existence is tremendous and such an honor. This position I have regarding how important and valuable human life is affects my decisions every day, especially because I am a labor and delivery nurse. I am not judgmental towards patients, but I personally do not support abortion, designer babies, or stem cell research. Many other nurses have this viewpoint. According to Kumar, Schaffer, 2004, "Evidence suggests that nurses tend to be more likely to oppose abortion than other medical professionals." I believe if God has granted you with the gift of life, there is a bigger reason behind it that we may not understand at that moment. Every life has a meaning behind it and it is not up to us a humans to make the decisions to end that said life.
