Discuss the use of industrial organizational psychologist

Assignment:

Jimmie jones has respond to your post and ask you several questions this is his post to you.

I agree with the topic of discussion regarding the advancement and use of Industrial Organizational Psychologist in the workplace. Here lately I have seen an increase in job postings from very well known tech industries and social media organizations hiring IO Psychologist or Work Scientists to help foster and growth their people. Organizations are becoming more aware that their success if heavily predicated on the success and well-being of its people in order to achieve higher productivity and increased financial gains to their bottom lines. With that being said, is your problem statement is the decreased use of these individuals currently in the workplace and the solution or method would be a measure on how to increase use to show a qualitative outcome (possibly quantitative as well) to help possibly improve retention of talent, decrease in turnover, while also increasing morale? Which all in turns increases organizational performance.

Problem Statement

Overview

The purpose of this assignment is to write a problem statement that focuses on a research idea by narrowing the topic area to a specific problem or issue. In this case, you are taking the next step in the topic area that was the basis of your assignment in Unit 4-Research Topic Investigation. The idea is to take what you learned in completing that assignment, and what you gained from your instructor's feedback, to develop a more formal statement of a specific problem that can be researched. The skills involved in writing a problem statement will serve you well throughout your program, and are particularly important in the dissertation process. They are critical skills needed to become a doctoral researcher in psychology.

A research problem is a concern, issue, or controversy that you investigate. The problem may come from the need to extend research into an area not yet studied. Many times, the specific problem or issue is identified at the end of another research study where the author calls for additional research. Regardless of the source of the problem, a researcher needs to have a clear idea of the goal: the answers that are sought and the specific questions that need to be asked.

This assignment will not be your final statement of this problem. The literature review that you will complete in Unit 8 may cause you to revise your statement to some extent, based on what you learn. However, this problem statement should be better defined and more precise than the assignment you submitted two weeks ago. You are familiar with the names of the researchers who have already studied your topic area.

You have located many of the literature resources-articles, books, and summaries-that provide some of the existing knowledge on that topic area. In the discussions in Units 3 and 4, you may have already begun the process of summarizing what is already known in the topic area. When you write your problem statement, rely on this work to help you articulate a focus for your research-summarize what is already known, and state clearly what you want to find out. What questions do you want to answer?

Writing a clear problem statement requires some significant thinking; your first attempt will rarely succeed. Instead, plan on working back and forth; striving for a statement that clearly and concisely identifies something that would be valuable to know. To help with this process, you will participate in a process of peer review in this unit's discussion, helping your peers as your peers help you. As soon as you have a problem statement that you believe is clear, post it in the discussion for peer review. To allow time for your peers to read and comment, post as early as you can, no later than Thursday evening. Then read the problem statements your peers posted, and select one to review in detail.

Instructions

In a 1 to 2 paragraph problem statement:

State the research problem.

Summarize what is already known, and explain how present knowledge is incomplete.

Justify the need to study the problem by presenting several reasons why the issue is important:

Experiences in the workplace (must be supported by resources).

Suggestions made by other researchers.

Take advantage of the responses you receive from your peers to revise your problem statement. Decide how to address what your peers suggest, revisiting your problem statement and thinking critically about what was pointed out. For example, if a peer suggests your idea needs to be more specific, consider how you can make it clearer. If a peer says you have not clarified why the issue is important, what additional evidence can you provide?

Once you have considered your peer feedback and revised your problem statement as you see necessary, submit your assignment to your instructor by the end of the week.
