1. In this week's reading lesson and according to Brown (2012) leaders need to be change agents. To effectively lead, leaders have the be the example of change they want to see in their employees. Leaders should embrace change and always be a step ahead of competition to avoid being too late and out of business.

Innovation, experimentation and taking risks are all a part of change that leaders need to embrace. Leaders must have the vision to see what is next for consumers to be excited about. Maintaining a competitive advantage over other businesses through innovation is will keep the company's creative juices flowing to invent the next best thing (Bushe & Marshak, 2016).

However, leaders should be mindful as to how change is approached within the organization since there are employees that will be resistant to changing the way they work (Aviles & Dent, 2015). Being encouraging and supportive of those who are having difficulty should be a priority the leader. In the workplace there are generational gaps and not all employees see change as a positive thing to be excited about. However, leaders should continue to reinforce that change is always necessary because there will continue to be technological advances that will change the way processes are completed. Becoming more efficient is what enables increased productivity resulting in higher profits. Remaining stagnant is why so many companies end up losing profits and ultimately shutting down the business or are bought out from their competitor. Leaders should have a plan and communicate the message to employees, so everyone is one the same page and are working together towards the same goal.

Thank you

2. If I was on America's Got Talent and the contestants were change, innovation, experimentation, and risk. I would say the judges would buzz three out of four of these words off the stage. Innovation would be left.

When were kids and as adults we often see and make changes, experimentation, and take risks. Parents often would say you need to change your way of doing stuff or thinking. How many times did we stress our parents out by experimenting with new ideas or taking risks while playing outside. I am sure, just like the business venue we all can agree for the most part that we do not wildly accept these three things.

Technology has caused many companies to become all four of these things. Changing due to new management or to make a better product or give better services. Considering these situations if we still want to keep our jobs, we often must overlook the bad parts of the change unless they are not ethically moral. "In dealing with change it was suggested that some leaders may be "stuck in their ways "(Brown, 2013, p.469).

If we did not have innovation, none of us probably would have Smartphones or iPhones. It took a lot of tinkering for Google and Apple to bring us to the next computer and communications technology. Most of probably use our smartphones way more than our computers. Going from the brick first cellphone to phones that can do anything is awesome but is terrible at times. Our social environment has suffered so much, and some people do not even know how to carry on a communication face to face.

Companies often experiment with new products. Just think of how many times Coca-Cola, Pepsi, and Lay's Potato chips have experimented with new ideas. Coca-Cola had New Coke, Coke with Wild Cherry, Lime, Mandarin Orange, and now they have Coke with California Raspberry or Coke with Peach. Pepsi has ventured in Salted Caramel and Fire. Mountain Dew has had so many flavors, Voltage, Ice, Cherry Ice, Pitch Black, Sangria, Baja Blast, etc. Lays has done many vote your favorite flavors, National flavors, Fan favorites, and even four flavors for the Brazilian Olympics. Experimentation is great, but often it can make or break a company financially.

Risk is another thing. Many of us have taken risks in our lives, whether it be to get married, buy a house, buy a car, take on a new job, more responsibilities, buy a pert, have children, etc. How many companies took risks and failed or did not take the risks to be current in technology. Blockbuster, Toys ‘R' Us, Kmart's, Sears, and many others either tried or did not and closed. But, when it comes to business we are often limited to the rules, guidelines, and decisions of those above us. If there can be servant leadership or a holocracy environment, then one or many can make a whole big difference not only in their individual business, but in the world in general. " The new products are challenging and involve some risk, but if you succeed being number one in third world countries, we know there is a huge market" (Johannsdottir, Olafsson, & Davidsdottir, 2015, p. 87).
