Effectiveness Of Operational Strategies
1.There are a number of operational strategies used by law enforcement organizations, to include preventative patrol, routine incident responses, community oriented policing, problem oriented policing, special groups and taskforces. In looking at the effectiveness of organizations, which operational strategy do you feel is most effective in protecting the public and preventing crime? Explain why the operational strategy you chose is better than the other strategies that can be applied.
2. Lowering The Risk Of Civil Lawsuits
Civil liability is a major concern for law enforcement organizations and their officers. Nearly all actions have some civil liability inherent in them. Include a discussion of at least one of the case law decisions listed in the required readings. What are some ideas on how officers can avoid being sued? Provide some specific suggestions that officers can take to reduce officer and organizational civil liability risk.
3. The Future Of Criminal Justice In America
The future of criminal justice in the United States will be shaped by many trends. This is a time of dynamic and foundational change in our society, and the criminal justice system we see now may look very different in the future. In reading the Police Executive Research Forum (2014) study titled "Future Trends in Policing", discuss several of the trends that are changing the future of the criminal justice system. Which trends will cause the most change? What other changes do you feel need to made in the criminal justice system in balancing security with individual rights.
