This Learning Activity will help you to develop skills and knowledge that you will need for the Competency Assessments. It is highly recommended that you complete this optional activity.
Clinical Decision Support
In this competency, you examine the importance and impact of clinical decision support (CDS) systems. In this paper, you will share your thoughts on this impact of clinical decision support systems. Clinical Decision support encompasses a variety of tools to enhance decision-making in the clinical work flow.
These tools include:
a) Computerized alerts and reminders to care providers and patients; clinical guidelines
b) Condition-specific order sets
c) Focused patient data reports and summaries
d) Documentation templates
e) Diagnostic support, and contextually relevant reference information, among other tools
In this paper:
1. Choose one of the tools and describe the pros and cons of this CDS tool.
2. Include the purpose of the tool, its intended objectives and include a minimum of four scholarly resources, in addition to the textbook.
3. Provide current evidence-based sources supporting your statements.
Format your assignment according to the following formatting requirements:
1. The answer should be typed, double spaced, using Times New Roman font (size 12), with one-inch margins on all sides.
2. The response also include a cover page containing the title of the assignment, the student's name, the course title, and the date. The cover page is not included in the required page length.
