Please choose One individual that you believe exemplifies excellent leadership. This person could be someone living or dead from the realms of history, the military, government, business, non-profit or even spiritual. OR you can choose a person, who exemplifies excellence in leadership that you know well, like a family member, friend, manager or colleague.
1. With this individual in mind, please describe what specific leadership characteristics, traits and values this person has that you believe makes him or her a successful leader - 10 Points
2. Describe at least two very clear, specific examples of this person's leadership in action (something she or he has accomplished), that demonstrates his/her leadership talent. Along with sharing at least two examples of this individual's leadership in action, please also connect how this person leads using one or a combination of the leadership theories reviewed in Chapter 14 and/or discussed in class (including power points). Question 1:
Shawn Wang is the leader that I believe exemplifies excellent leadership. Shawn is the founder and CEO of ZEALER (Zealer network technology). At first, he just makes technology review videos and each video has more than 300,000 reviews. Then, he quiets his job and open his own company ZEALER. When he started doing videos, nobody knew him, so he borrowed about $ 300,000 HK money to buy all the digital products. In order to save the cost of evaluation, he sale all if the products to online buyers after the he finished make the review videos. After three years of hard working, he finally became one of the most famous video maker in China. Right now, he owns his own company ZEALER and he has over 40 employees working for him. ZEALER is a company that makes videos and provide fix service for electronic equipment. The reason I chose him is because he owns a lot of leadership traits that makes him a good leader. He has conscientiousness. He participates in all the video making. He has empathy. He is charisma. Every one work for him likes his video and adore him.
Question 2:
The first example is that when he decided to open his own company, his friends decided to quiet their job and follow with Shawn Wang, because they trust him, and they have the same goal with Shawn Wang. I believe that is Personal power. (Capacity to influence others because they admire you and want to identify positively with you) (Capacity to influence others because of one's knowledge and skills). The second example is that he used have a TV debate with Luo Yonghao, the CEO of Smartisan. This debate is about Luo Yonghao did not satisfied with what Shawn Wang talked about Smartisan phone in his review video. Although, Shawn lost this debate. But, he has the courage to admit his mistake.
