A pendulum consisting of a bob of mass m is suspended from a massless inextensible string of length L in a viscous fluid. The retarding force due to the fluid is proportional to the square of the velocity of the pendulum. Call the constant of proportionality k. Derive the equations of motion for the pendulum.
