Sustainable design is becoming more widely used to avoid depletion of natural resources and help eliminate environmental crises. Recycling of raw materials is being stressed in the production of such items as shopping bags, printed graphics, direct mail pieces, and so forth. This week you will research and discuss sustainable design and its importance to retailers.
Using the textbook, the Internet and other credible resources, research & discuss these techniques and concepts. Keep track of where you get your information from while you are researching and be sure to use the MLA format for citing sources. For this assignment, write a 600-word Essay addressing the following (when writing, make sure each question has its own paragraph):
• Define sustainable design and discuss its importance to retailers.
• Is going green a marketing tactic or a retailer's social responsibility?
• Do retailers benefit from positive public relations when they employ green approaches to their companies?
• In addition to working with eco-friendly manufactures, what other options are there for eco-minded retailers in their establishments? List and explain 4 alternatives.
• Consumer awareness has prompted many retailers to "do the right thing" in terms of environmental protection. Tell us about a business in your community that is "doing the right thing" in terms of environmental protection.
