A pressure vessel needs an internal diameter of 1.5m and will generally contain air at 30bar. For safety, the maximum tensile stress in the material to be employed must not exceed 250MN/m2 at a pressure of 60bar.

Q1. Find out the minimum acceptable wall thickness by using thin cylinder theory.

Q2. Find out the minimum acceptable wall thickness by using thick cylinder simulation software.

Q3. Comment on the importance of any difference.
