Calculate the period of oscillation of the styrofoam

A boy throws a 2 kg rock at a 5 kg block of styrofoam that hangs by a 3 m long rope attached to a tree branch. When the boy throws the rock it takes 0.75 s while in his hand before he releases the rock at a speed of 18 m/s. When the rock strikes the styrofoam, it becomes imbedded in the block and causes the block to swing backward.

a) Calculate the period of oscillation of the styrofoam as it swings backward.

b) Calculate the frequecncy of the oscillation.

c) Using conservation of momentum, calculate the speed of the styrofoam/rock just after collision.

d) Using conservation of energy, calculate the maximum height attained by the styrofoam/rock when it swings backwards.
