Briefly describe your decision at hand and list your options

Assignment

In this assignment, you will be analyzing a decision you're in the process of making. You will be thinking about how to make this choice from both normative and non-normative perspectives, and you will be using these perspectives to consider a path forward.

Think of a (fairly) large life decision you need to make in the near future. It could be regarding careers, jobs, grad schools, relationships, moving to a different area, large-scale purchases (e.g., car, laptop), or anything else. Be as creative as you want, but it should be a decision of at least some importance to you. As a result, avoid something trivial (e.g., dinner plans, what to watch on TV).
Now, with your decision in mind...

1. Decision.

Briefly describe your decision at hand, and list your options. Off the bat, which option are you leaning towards?

2. Normative decision process (+4 points).

Think about how you would make this decision normatively:

A. Create a weighted decision matrix, as shown in class. Explain your choices of attributes and weights.
B. Based on the matrix, what should you choose? In your heart, do you agree with this choice?

3. Non-normative decision process (+6 points).

Now consider how you would make this decision non-normatively. Go back to your matrix:

A. Lexicographic rule.

Based on this rule, what choice would you make? Explain how you arrived at that choice. Does this differ from your normative choice?

B. Elimination-by-aspects (EBA).

Based on this rule, what choice would you make? Explain how you arrived at that choice. Does this differ from your normative choice?

C. Conjunctive rule.

Based on this rule, what choice would you make? Explain how you arrived at that choice. Does this differ from your normative choice?

4. Conclusion.

Overall, did this process reinforce or make you rethink your original choice from Step 1? Explain. Which decision process (normative vs. non-normative) more closely aligned with your original choice?

Format your assignment according to the following formatting requirements:

1. The answer should be typed, double spaced, using Times New Roman font (size 12), with one-inch margins on all sides.

2. The response also include a cover page containing the title of the assignment, the student's name, the course title, and the date. The cover page is not included in the required page length.

3. Also Include a reference page. The Citations and references should follow APA format. The reference page is not included in the required page length.
