You are an attorney who has just been hired to defend a new client. This client is on trial for drunk driving; after a holiday party, your client struck a pedestrian with his car, and the pedestrian died.
Your client wants to know what to expect as the trial proceedings begin. To prepare him, write a response that includes the following criteria:
1) Describe how judges and juries are selected
2) Analyze the qualifications of a good attorney.
3) Discuss how prosecuting attorneys are selected, monitored for ethical behavior, and removed from a case, if needed.
4) Discuss how the judge, jury, and attorneys interact with each other.
As you draft your assignment, consider what the client needs to know and the best ways to explain the information.
