Step 1: Review a model essay
Step 2: Choose a topic
Step 3: Create a title page

1. Review this Model Essay. Take some time to analyze it carefully. Think about the structure of the essay, the format of the different parts, and how the topic is addressed. If you follow the guided steps in the next workshops, your essay can turn out this well, too!

2. Choose a topic of interest that is related to your program or field of study from the Sample Research Topics document. Use your topic as the title of your essay. You may decide to edit this title as you develop your essay in upcoming workshops.

3. Create a title page in Academic Writer by carefully following the guided steps in the APA Title Page video.

4. Review the IWU APA 6e Guide. This official guide provides instructions for APA formatting, general and specific writing expectations, and another sample paper. The IWU Off Campus Library also has an APA Resource page. As you develop your writing skills in upcoming courses, these resources will come in handy, however, you can also use digital tools, such as Academic Writer to format successfully.

5. Submit your completed title page using the Dropbox by the end of the workshop.

Format your assignment according to the following formatting requirements:

1. The answer should be typed, double spaced, using Times New Roman font (size 12), with one-inch margins on all sides.
