Many factors influence a company's performance (Kohl's). It may be the industry it is in, or a direct competitor's actions.
Research the industry (retail) average ratios or a competitor's financials. Compare the ratios with your company's numbers. How are your company faring compared to the industry? To its competitor(s)? Describe your company's financial performance relative to the industry (or competition).
You can grab industry average ratios from a number of resources. One such resource is Dun and Bradstreet, but there are others (IBISWorld, Business Source, Mergent).
