A short description of smithsonian freersackler museum why

There are the two museums you may visit. You must choose objects within the timeframe of the course. (Any artwork dated BCE up to 1400 CE).

Smithsonian Freer/Sackler Museum (Mall, The Smithsonian Metro)

A. Feast Your Eyes: A Taste for Luxury in Ancient Iran:

B. Arts of the Islamic World

C. The Nile in Ancient Egypt

D. Dumbarton Oaks Museum (Georgetown)

1. Choose four objects that interest you as you peruse the museum. They must be from different periods, cultures or regions. (For example, DO NOT select two Ancient Egyptian objects.)

2. Provide a picture of your object or of the object's label. (Do not use flash and be aware that some exhibits may not allow photography, which in this case you may provide a brochure or a picture of yourself in front of the museum, etc.)

3. For each object, list the full label information: the artist (if one), name or title, date, medium, size, and place of origin.

4. Write a short paragraph and include the following:

A. A short description of the object.

B. Why did you choose the object? What one thing about the object caught your eye? For example, its color, images size, etc.

C. List one thing that you learned about the object or surprised you after you looked at it carefully and read any information about it on the label. (You do not need to research the object.)

5. You must write in paragraph form with complete sentences and correct grammar, spelling and punctuation. Do not put your answers in bullet or list form. Each object is worth 5 points and you will be deducted points for not following the directions or addressing the questions, grammatical errors, and spelling and punctuation mistakes. Proofread!
