Simple fruits

Simple fruits:

Whenever s single fruit grows from a single ovary of a single flower, it is termed as simple fruit. The ovary might be mono-carpellary or multi-carpellary syncarpous. According to the nature of pericarp, simple fruits are divisible into two forms:

(i) Fleshy fruits and

(ii) Dry fruits

Simple fleshy fruits:

In such fruits either the whole pericarp or portion of the pericarp is succulent and juicy whenever completely ripe. Generally the fruit wall might be differentiated into three layers: an external epicarp, a center mesocarp and an inner endocarp. As a common rule, the fleshy fruits are indehiscent.

Simple Dry Fruits:

These fruits contain dry pericarp that is not differentiated into three layers.
