Meaning of soil reinforcement: Soil reinforcement is the action of enhancing soil strength to allow it support or carry more loads.
Two general illustrations are:
a) Mixing a soil amendment like lime into weak clayey soil and re-compacting to enhance soil-bearing capacity (frequently completed under the road base in highway manufacture).
b) Installing plastic or composite webbing layers (termed as geo-grid material) alternating with compacted soil to make a stronger sloped soil structure (frequently completed on steep roadway embankments to enhance stability and strength).
