Tubular secretion is defined as the passage of substances from the blood capillaries which surrounds the nephron tubules to the tubular lumen for these substances to get excreted along with urine. Ammonia, potassium bicarbonate, uric acid, hydrogen ions, metabolic acids and bases, a variety of ingested drugs (medicines) and other substances get released by the nephron tubules.
