Hemolysis (or demolition of red blood cells) by access of water, the hydric regulation in plants and entrance of water in xylem of vascular plants are all examples of biological phenomena caused by the osmosis.

Excessive dilution of blood plasma causes, through osmosis, the entrance of too much water in red blood cells and then the demolition of these cells (or hemolysis). Osmosis is as well the main procedure for maintenance of the flaccid, plasmolytic states or turgid of plant cells.
