In cell division through meiosis ploidy reduction take place in the meiosis II. Originally, taking as instance a 2n somatic cell, ploidy raises to 4n (or replication of DNA) throughout interphase. Throughout meiosis I, because homologous chromosomes are divided, ploidy falls down to 2n (real number) and then throughout meiosis II ploidy finally falls down to the n in resulting daughter cells.

Ploidy cutback doesn’t take place in mitosis. This verity shows that, though in the meiosis ploidy is diminished from its real number, in the meiosis II, a procedure alike or similar to mitosis, the consequences of that reduction is what take place in meiosis I, that is, the separation or division of homologous chromosomes.
