Mechanism by which neural impulse is transmitted along axon
Write down the mechanism by which the neural impulse is transmitted along axon?

Neural impulse is transmitted along neuronal membrane through the depolarization of consecutive neighboring areas. When a region in internal surface of membrane is depolarized it becomes more positive in relation to neighboring internal area. So positive electrical charges (or ions) move towards this more negative area and voltage-gated sodium channels are activated as well as open. The action potential then linearly propagates along membrane till near the presynaptic region of axon.
