In central nervous system (or CNS) myelin sheath is made by the opposition of the oligodendrocyte membranes. Every oligodendrocyte can cover portions of the axons of many dissimilar neurons. In peripheral nervous system (or PNS) myelin sheath is made by the consecutive Schwann cell membranes covering segments of the single axon. The Ranviers’ nodes seem in the intercellular space between these cells. The myelin sheath is rich in lipids however it also haves proteins.
