Human resource planning (HRP) is important since it helps to conclude the future personnel needs of the organization. The problem which is faced by an organization is either additional or shortage in manpower strength, then it results in absence of effecting HR planning. Every public sector enterprises find themselves overstaffed now as they never ever had any preparation for personnel requirement and went of recruitment binge till late 1980’s. The problem facing when staff is extra has become such a noticeable problem that many private sector units are resorting to ‘voluntary retirement scheme’ (VRS). If the organization had good HRP system, the additional labour problem would have been there. Actual HRP system can also permit the organization to have good succession planning.
