The presence of every extraembryonic membrane differs according to the vertebrate class.  In fishes and amphibians just the yolk sac is present. In reptiles and birds apart from the yolk sac there are also amnion, chorion and allantois. In placental mammals besides all of these membranes, placenta is also present.
