Whenever a variable can just be a whole number then it is termed as ‘discrete’. The opposite of discrete variable is one that can be expressed in the fractions. Illustrations of this would comprise salaries, claim costs, premiums, weights, volumes, temperatures and so on. These variables are known as ‘continuous’.
