Corals are typified by their polypoid shape, sessility and slow enlargement and secretion of a solid skeleton made of calcium carbonate. Various coral individuals correlate in intra-specific harmonic ecological interaction forming colonies with hundreds, thousands and even millions of beings. Water permeated solid structures of such colonies, recognized as reefs, work as true ecosystems for other creatures. The biggest known coral colony is Great Barrier Reef in the northeast coast of the Australia. There are but various coral species whose individuals live alone and don’t form colonies.
