Carcinogens are factors capable of producing neoplasias. Any mutagen, a substance that can bring on DNA mutation, is a potential carcinogen. Examples of carcinogens are radiation, nitrous acid, several substances inhaled throughout tobacco, smoking and the human papilloma virus (or HPV).
