1) Your internal medicine practice is considering adding a cardiologist to your practice for continuity of care. This physician will simply rent space in your building.   During the interview process the cardiologist agrees to work in the practice building but only if his rent costs are waived by the practice. Discuss any issues you see with this arrangement and what potential issues could arise from this arrangement.

2) Historically an orthopedic physician in your practice sends, on average, 30 patients a month to your hospital for an MRI. This past month he didn’t send any. Upon investigation you discover that this physician has bought into a freestanding MRI facility. He is now sending 100% of his patients to his MRI facility. Does this arrangement pose a conflict?   Should this physician disclose his financial ties to the MRI facility to his patients? If so why?

3) Describe your responsibilities as a healthcare manager as they apply to compliance programs in a physician practice.
