Writing a successful academic piece

Annotated Bibliography: Three Sources+ Annotation Workshop Overview: As we have discussed in our review of Chapters 18-20, conducting meaningful research is key to writing a successful academic piece. The annotated bibliography allows us to do just that. We are able to take a deep dive in an area of interest (discipline) and find more specific topics that prove to be lucrative for an argumentative piece. In addition, this deep dive in to discovering the "buzz" allows us to begin to formulate meaningful research questions and figure out how to progress and springboard and progress towards the argumentative essay. Post a minimum of three sources of your choice along with the three hundred annotations for each of your sources. Types of Sources that one may use are:

o Articles - Scholarly (at least seven pages in length)

? When using articles, they should always come from a peer reviewed journal or other academic location where the information is reviewed before it is published.

? Avoid op-ed pieces for this assignment. In addition, avoid.com websites. Use the library database search to aid in finding scholarly sources from peer-reviewed journals.

o Visuals - at least ten minutes in length. § TEDTalks § Documentaries § Scholarly Presentations (conferences) Source citations should be rendered in the appropriate Modern Language Association citation style. Remember, your source citation will differ depending on the type of source you are using. Sources should be alphabetized by the last name of the author/content creator. (last name, first name) Each of the three annotated bibliographies should include a brief introduction of the source and their credentials. One must capture the main arguments/claims of the source. Provide any other meaningful information presented by the source.

To summarize it all up: Provide a concluding sentence that captures how the source brings things to a close and what their call to action is. Remember, your annotations should include an introduction of the content creator/author of the source along with their credentials (to establish an ethos). Each of your annotations should be three hundred words and include the main arguments/claims that the source is making along with a detailed summary of the source focusing on the salient points of the source.
