Problem:
Two mediators who are new to mindfulness have different experiences with practicing mediation, but similar concerns. One mediator has painful memories come up, and these lead to worries about the future. The other things about upcoming events that they are excited for, which remind them of similar joyful experiences in the past. Both of these individuals then remember that they are supposed to be paying attention to the present moment so they push their memories of the past and thought about the future away, the more thoughts and memories come up. Are these two behaving mindfully by pushing away thoughts about the past and future? Why or why not? Reminder: Experiential evidence: when a person is unwilling to remain in contact with particular private experiences (e.g. bodily sensations, emotions, thoughts, memories, behavioral predispositions) and takes steps to alter immediately necessary. Mindfulness: Paying attention in a particular way: on purpose, in the present moment, and non-judgmentally. Non-striving: focusing carefully on seeing and accepting things as they are, moment by moment. Need Assignment Help?
