In your introduction, present a well-defined subject to be evaluated and the criteria you will use to support your judgment followed by a thesis that follows an appropriate thesis template. In the middle paragraphs, present the specific criteria you are using to evaluate your subject and argue for why your subject meets-or doesn't meet-the following criteria. For each criterion, acknowledge and respond to various counterarguments about whether it does meet-or doesn't meet-the criteria. Finally, in your conclusion, sum up your argument and remind readers what's at stake in this debate.
The structure of the essay might be as follows: 1) the first or first two paragraphs introduce and define the subject, 2) the next several paragraphs go over the reasons your subject meets or doesn't meet the criteria along with the counterarguments for your evaluation, and 3) finally, the last paragraph(s) sum up your argument and remind readers what's at stake in this debate.
