Write an equation showing the reaction of methanol (CH3OH) with HClO 4 as a Brønsted-Lowry acid. Answer: CH3OH + HClO4 -> CH3OH2+ + ClO4- Why is it ClO4-? Doesn't one of the O ions get donated to the CH3OH2+? If not, where does the extra O come from?
