Requirements:

1. Your literacy narrative should explore how your literacy history intersects with one or both of the two themes we explored in Unit 1: "misinformation" or "standard language ideology."

2. Your literacy narrative should not be an academic essay with a thesis. It should be a story and should follow the genre conventions you identify in your genre analysis of literacy narratives.

3. Your literacy narrative should not be an autobiography in which you attempt to tell about your whole life. Your narrative should have a limited focus and purpose based on your personal motivation, or exigence. For example, you may wish to: 1) answer a question or test a hypothesis; 2) explore the significance of a time period or experience in your life; 3) explore a certain aspect of literacy.

4. Your literacy narrative should ultimately make an argument about "misinformation" In other words, you should make one or two main points--implicitly or explicitly--that you illustrate and back up through the story you tell. Your argument or main point is a new offering your readers should take from your essay.

5. You should use genre-appropriate language moves to make sure you are intentionally using language to help your reader perceive the rhetorical elements of your project.

6. Your literacy narrative should be approximately four pages (1,000-1,250 words).
