Part A - WRITE A 2+ PAGE DESCRIBING A VARIOUS OF CRITICAL SCHOOLS LITERATURE approximately 200-250 words

DQ 1 - Though we may have many goals when we read something, one goal of all readers is to understand what they're reading, to get at the meaning of it. The chapter in the textbook you read for this week introduced you to eight contemporary critical reading strategies which are used by readers to do just that: discover meaning in a text. Of course, knowledge of these strategies is not essential for critically reading literature-you've been reading critically for this entire course and have just been introduced to these strategies. But now that you've learned about them, you may find yourself relying on one or more of them to help you understand the literature you read. What you need to do for this discussion post is review the eight strategies in the book, think back over the ways you've read and analyzed works for this course, then explain which of the strategies comes closest to your natural critical reading strategy and why this is the case. For example, did you find yourself focused more on the historical aspects of the work (Historical Scholarship)? Why? Did you focus on the psychological state of the author (psychological criticism)? Did you focus on the author's biography (Biographical criticism) Why? Did you focus on the economic status of the characters (Marxist criticism)? You also need to briefly argue why one of these reading strategies is weaker than the others. That is, if you were going to give someone advice on how to get a good grasp of a meaning of a work, which reading strategy would you tell him or her to avoid? Explain why you see this strategy as weak or flawed. approximately 200-250 words.

DQ 2 - For your final discussion post, you need to look back at what you wrote for your first discussion post in which you discussed your reading experiences, the challenges you expected to be met with in this class, and your initial thoughts on the value of reading and studying literature. How have your thoughts and ideas changed as a result of the work you've done for this course? Do you read differently now? Has your understanding and appreciation of literature changed? How has exposure to many authors' views of "the Human Condition" affected your own? If possible, point to specific texts to show your classmates how you've changed, as a student, a reader, or a person, as a result of this course.
