With short-term memory were able to remember something only

With short-term memory, we're able to remember something only for a few minutes or a week while with long-term memory we can remember something for a lifetime. When I study for a test that I have to take within a few days, I often forget some of the information after the test, I didn't actually learn it, but more so store the information in my short-term memory to get through the test. Is this the best policy? Of course not however it happens often with many students due to busy lifestyles. On the other hand, there are certain vocabulary words I remember from high school due to having been tested on new words every week and then at the end of the year, we had a test on all the words. Because of this, I was required to study these words weekly, new and old and now remember a lot of them. Many words are words that aren't used in daily language however, I can still recite them because of how often we were tested on them for a year.
