Why so important to formulate strategies

Discuss the below:

Q: Why is it so important to formulate strategies in this specific order? I feel it is very important that the 5 stages are in this order because it will help with the communication for all that is involved. Each department would be able to understand what phase the organization is in. Everyone is on the same page with their focus is the process attain the mission, values, and vision that would help lead them to the organization's goal, with building a strong team along the way.

Directional Strategies: This is the stage that an organization will set the overall direction of its mission and vision for the staff and employees. For example all staff member and employer must take classes on cultural differences and diversity sensitivity training.

Adaptive Strategies: This stage help an organization to move towards its vision while still in their present environment, making decisions on expanding current market or stay at its current status. For example a hospital trying to make a decision if they want to expand their rehab unit, so they can increase and add more beds for its drug abuse unit.

Market Entry: This is the stage where an organization decide to enter the market. Example when two healthcare organization decide to merge their practices to begin a strong and new practice.

Competitive stage: This stage focus on having an competitive edge over its current and new organizations in the same market. Example Eli lilly trying to sell their meds at a lower cost than Mckesson.

Implementation Stage: C reate more overtime for research and development department in order produce a med at lower cost than their chief competitor McKesson.

Based on your perspective, is one type of strategy formulation more effective than another for an acute care hospital? Why or why not? I think that the Adaptive Strategies is more effective in an acute care hospital due to the fact it is usually patients with severe injury illnesses, and recovering from surgery. This type of environment is always in some form of transition and the key is to be able to adapt at any moment, a life threatening situation could occur so all of its staff must be well trained for any emergency setting.

An institution's mission is its reason for existing. In the case of a public institution, this mission is always tied to creating public worth or enhancing the public good. Next are typically goals and vision. The planners decide what goals the institution should strive for. What goals related to the mission are feasible and desirable for the institution? The vision is where an organization hopes to be, of who it hopes to serve, in the future. While a discussion of vision and goals is crucial, they must be approached realistically.
