Problem:
Create a short and nice response to this classmate's discussion post- Psychology uses different research methods to better understand human behavior. The three main categories of research methods are descriptive, correlational, and experimental. The descriptive research method is used to observe, describe, and document behaviors or characteristics without manipulating variables. According to Knox (video,2020), descriptive research systematically observes and describes individuals, groups, or patterns of behavior. Rather than examining relationships between variables or trying to explain why behaviors occur, this method focuses on accurately capturing what is happening in a natural environment. Descriptive research techniques include naturalistic observation, survey research, and case studies, which allow researchers to gather information about behaviors, attitudes, or experiences as they happen. Correlational research is a research method used to examine the relationship between two variables without manipulating them. It looks at whether variables are related and how strong that relationship is. "In correlational research, two sets of variables are examined to determine whether they are associated or correlated. The strength and direction between the two variables are presented by a mathematical statistic known as a correlation coefficient." (Knox, video, 2020) Correlations can be positive or negative. A positive correlation occurs when both variables increase or decrease. Need Assignment Help?
