Why important to communicate with families

Assignment Task: How would you respond to this?

1) It is extremely important to communicate with families, especially about their child's progress in school. At the beginning of the year, we can communicate with parents to send home a flyer for parents to fill out how they prefer to be contacted about their student's progress. I then make notes about their preferred method. Another popular one is having parent/teacher conferences which I prefer because I can show them their child's work and give them examples of their progress. The last idea is I can send home an informal progress report, and I can include some ideas on how they can help their child with those skills at home.

2) Many years ago, when I was in kindergarten, whenever there was any parent information to be sent home it was pinned to the collar of each student's shirt. Nowadays, teachers can email any and all information to the parents of their students. Emails, texts, and phone calls are ways that a teacher can communicate to parents about student progress and all classroom and school events. Another way that teachers can communicate student progress to parents/guardians is through apps such as ClassDojo. ClassDojo allows the teacher to communicate information about student progress as well as classroom and school events. Teachers can also send home or email weekly or monthly progress. Also, a more formal setting such as parent-teacher conferences is another way that student information can be shared with parents or guardians.
