Why a precipitate of baco3 is observed to produce

When 0.5F ofN2CO3 is added to a clear saturated solution of BaSO4 a precipitate of BaCO3 is observed to produce. A handbook lists the molar solubility of BaCO3 as 7.1x10^-5 and the molar solubility of BaSO4 as 1.1x10^-5.  How do you account for this observation given the fact that BaCO3 is more soluble than BASO4?
