Who we really are as people it is worthless

Problem: When Rust and Hart attend the tent revival service, the preacher makes a number of provocative theological claims including "You are a stranger to yourself but [God] knows you" and "This world is a veil and the face you wear is not your own." I think these show that Hart and Rust both have very different views on how they perceive life. The preacher's words directly hit Rust because he knows he understands himself better than anyone while Hart really worships God's values and teachings and agrees. The preacher saying this in this episode piggybacks on the philosophical thinking that people may believe they are always right or have knowledge on everything pertaining to life but there is a true meaning we may never even get to know until it is over and we are gone. Philosophers argue and have different ideas on this. I also think that it also is trying to prove a point of "you do not even matter" and "life isn't all about you." We are humans in human existence. We are just living and existing on earth without a purpose or true idea of who we really are as people it is worthless. What do you think?
